You never know who’s watching. I photographed this blue damselfly hovering near a pond at UC Berkeley Botanical Garden. Damselfly faces seem expressive — awesome, wide-eyed, bulbous monkey gazes. I don’t know what’s behind the eyes, but the macro lens never lets me forget the characters who live under leaves, petals and lily pads.
