Taking in the anomalous May clouds . . . drifting through spring as Joni Mitchell lyrics.
Bows and flows of angel hair . . .
And ice cream castles in the air . . .
And feathered canyons everywhere . . .
I’ve looked at clouds that way . . .
The esteemed Joni Mitchell to wrap it all up:
The Photos: I deliberated quite a bit on posting these photos. I snapped them as we walked under the BART rail, so there was a haphazard nature to the composition. In my LCD, I liked the second photo best, even though it could be rightfully argued that the trees and poles are distracting elements in all of the shots. There are times a tone or moment captured in a photograph speaks to me outside the realm of perfection, and that’s what happened here. Had I time to set up, I would have sought a different angle. But on that day, I was enamored with the clouds as I walked through Oakland. And the contrast of a geometric, checkerboard train against the ‘feathered canyons’ evoked, for me, Joni Mitchell . . . and spring days moving past us toward cloudless summers. You could say this felt like my last ditch effort to photograph clouds. It’s a sentimental thing.
